Cameron Selected for Jr. Pan-Pacific Team

15-year-old chosen after 2nd place swim in 200 IM.

Warwick's Emily Cameron saved the best for last. The 15-year-old had her best performance of the week on the final day of the USA Swimming Junior National Championships in Irvine,CA.

After swimming the fastest preliminary time in the 200 Individual Medley (2:17.39), Cameron finished second in this evening's A Final with a personal-best 2:15.93.

After the race Casey Coble, Cameron's coach at the Lancaster Aquatic Club, told us Emily was selected to the USA National Youth Team and will compete at the Junior Pan-Pacific Championships in Maui at the end of this month.

Jasmine Tosky, a 16-year-old who set a meet record in the 400 IM, won the 200 as well.

Cameron was among the leaders after the butterfly leg, but fell back to the pack on the backstroke. She swam the fastest breaststroke leg of anyone in the finals to take over second place and held off Meghan Hawthorne on the last 50 meters of freestyle to claim silver by 0.2 seconds.

The Junior Pan-Pacific Championships take place August 26-30 in Maui, Hawaii.
