Manheim Central Returns to the Court

Barons play first basketball games since car accident.

DeVaughn Lee's jersey is raised during the starting lineups.

Eight days removed from a tragic car accident that affected the entire Manheim community, the Baron basketball teams returned to action tonight.

The boys, who lost one of their own in freshman DeVaughn Lee, played host to Lancaster Catholic. They wore headbands with Lee's number three, began the game with only four players on the court in honor of their fallen starter and presented Lee's family with the game ball.

The undefeated Crusaders proved too much for the Barons, who fell 50-25.

On the road the Lady Barons wore warm-up shirts with pictures of Lee, John Griffith, Cody Hollinger and Nicolas Bryson on the front. A Lancaster Catholic coach led a prayer at the beginning of the game, asking especially to keep Central sophomore point guard Kristin Robeson, Lee's girlfriend, in your thoughts.

Both teams came out hot in the first half, with the Barons trailing 27-25 at half. Catholic pulled away to win 59-40.

Watch senior guard Josh Robeson and head coach Chris Sherwood talk about getting back on the court below:
