Manheim Mourns Students' Deaths

Hundreds attend evening prayer vigil as the grieving continues.

Nicolas Bryson, John Griffith, Cody Hollinger and DeVaughn Lee.

A day has passed since four Manheim Central student-athletes lost their lives in a car crash and the community is struggling to cope.

Counselors were available for students at the high school today and will be throughout the week. Manheim Brethren in Christ Church hosted a prayer vigil tonight attended by hundreds of people.

Freshman DeVaughn Lee, sophomores Nicolas Bryson and Cody Hollinger, and junior John Griffith passed away when their car went out of control and was hit by an oncoming vehicle.

All four young men were members of the Baron football team, with Lee playing hoops for Central, Griffith wrestling and Hollinger swimming for the Barons this winter.

All Manheim Central athletic events scheduled for this week have been postponed.

Watch football coach Mike Williams, basketball coach Chris Sherwood and athletic trainer Renee Rieker talk about the tragedy and the four boys:

In the fall we profiled Lee the freshman phenom. While difficult to watch now, it shows what a gifted and humble young athlete we've lost. View the piece here.
